Various interested parties are involved in development of Decentralization Strategy

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is developing a medium-term Decentralization Strategy (2018-2015) and an Action Plan for it (2018-2019). 
In parallel with this process, with involvement of various interested parties, including non-governmental and international organizations and experts working in this field, three working groups are created in the following directions: increasing authorities of local self-governments, financial decentralization and improvement of provision mechanisms of civilians’ participation in implementation of local self-government. 
Today, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure Maia Tskitishvili and Deputy Ministers met with applicants willing to be involved in working groups. 
A meeting was held in a unified format of all three groups, the main goal of which was to submit the Ministry’s vision, determination of working principles for working groups and agreement on future cooperation plans. 
 „In sum, from non-governmental, international and donor organizations as well as experts involved in this field, 80 application requests were received in all three groups. We welcome such activities. It is important to us to provide productive work with your participation and submit a result of our joint work to the Government Commission and then to the Government, by the end of this year” – mentioned Mrs. Maia Tskitishvili. 
Development process of Decentralization Strategy and Action Plan are being carried out by support of UNDP Georgia and the Danish Government.
