French Development Agency to start work with the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia on regional development issues

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Nodar Javakhishvili had a meeting with the representatives of the French Development Agency (Agence Francaise Developpment (AFD) along with the First Deputy Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.

The Agency is a public institution in France which provides financial support to a number of countries for the projects of state importance. AFD pursues its activities in 80 countries.  

At the meeting the parties declared readiness for further cooperation. According to the representatives of the Agency, they will gladly support the projects and program that will facilitate regional development, including economic development of high mountainous regions, infrastructure development in regions (water supply, solid waste management, roads and bridges). 

It was also highlighted at the meeting that next year the Agency is planning opening of resident representation in the South Caucasus. The representation will make cooperation between Georgia and AFD even stronger.
