7 km section of Agara-Zemo Osiauri road is opened

Traffic was diverted on a new alignment -  7 km section of Agara-Zemo osiauri road. Prime-Minister of Georgia Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Nodar Javakhishvili, Chairman of Roads Department George Seturidze and World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Ms. Mercy Tembon officially opened the new road.

Construction works of the part of the main transit highway of the country – 12 km section of Agara-Zemo Osiauri road started in 2015 and will finish by the end of the current year. Construction of 7 km cement-concrete road is completed and traffic is diverted on a new road.

Under the project : 4-lane cement-concrete road, 2 interchanges, 2 parallel bridges, 2 central highway overpasses,  culverts and underpasses have been done.

Georgian Company Black Sea Group and Kuwait Company Corpi Construction Enterprises W.L.L implement civil works. Project is funded by the World Bank. Project value is more than GEL 105, 7 mln. Up to 500 persons are employed on construction works.

Upgrading of Agara-Zemo Osiauri section shall increase highway capacity, improve traffic safety level and reduce travel time.
