State Construction Company will continue rehabilitation works of Kobuleti shore protection wall

3 May 2018

State Construction Company will   enter into rehabilitation works of Kobuleti shore protection works – this decision was made by the Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia a week ago, when she got familiar with the situation along the shoreline in Kobuleti, right before the start of tourist season.
Through the financial aid from the World Bank, last autumn Municipal Development Fund of Georgia started rehabilitation of around 2 km long shore protection wall.   The project was intended to be finished this year, until the tourist season started. However, the construction company could not fulfill the commitments, which was protested by locals.
Maya Tskitishvili held a meeting with the representatives of construction and supervision companies and requested a specific schedule of completing the works.
In order the significant part of the project to be finished until the tourist season starts, it was decided that the State Construction Company shall step in.
Chair of the Government of Adjara Autonomous Republic visited the site to see renewed construction process. According to Mr. Pataridze, those sections, that cannot be rehabilitated by this summer, will be temporarily paved and cleaned. Works intended under the project will be renewed as soon as the tourist season finishes.
Shore protection works in Kobuleti cover arrangement of a new boulevard, increase of the parameters of the shoreline; shore protection wall will reduce impact of waves during storms which will make the shoreline safe both for locals and for tourists.
