The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia completed construction of the Folklore Center. The project was carried out with the financial support of the Government of Georgia, and its cost exceeds 1.6 million GEL.
The opening event of the Folklore Center was attended by Minister of Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Batiashvili, Deputy Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund Juansher Burchuladze and representatives of the local self-government.
The existing building was damaged and rehabilitation was necessary. Within the project, interior and exterior were rehabilitated. The building is adapted to persons with disabilities.
After completion of works, archive and sound recording studio will be arranged in the Ozurgeti Folklore House. Unique materials gathered by Anzor Erkomaishvili will be placed here. Ensembles from West Georgia no longer will have to go to Tbilisi to record songs.
Construction work started in October 2016 and was completed in September 2018. The project will promote development of folk-tourism.
