27 April 2018

Municipal Development Fund of Georgia under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia is finishing rehabilitation of Ozurgeti Office of State Folk Center. Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili and Executive Director of the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Mr. Gagi Buadze visited the site.
Construction works started in October 2016. The building was broke down. The project covers full rehabilitation of interior of the building; currently façade rehabilitation works are underway. The building is adapted for the people with limited abilities.
After completion of the works, an archive and a voice recording studio will be accomodated at the Folk Center. The Center will preserve unique material collected by Anzor Erqomaishvili. Local ensembles will not have to travel to Tbilisi to record a song.  There are around 100 children enrolled in the Centre and the Director hopes that their number will, at least, double.
“Guria is distinguished by talented choiremasters. Fortunately the tradition of choirmasters still continues. Reconstruction of the Ozurgeti Folk Centre was carried out with the use of modern technologies and in compliance with modern standards. I believe that the Centre will become a new forge of talented people” – Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili said.
The project, which will promote development of folk tourism is implemented through the funding from the Government of Georgia and its total cost amounts to more than GEL 1.6 mln. Construction of Ozurgeti Folk Centre will be finished in May.
