By 2020 - 2 500 projects to be fulfilled in Georgia

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia – Zurab Alavidze presented to Economic Policy and Sector Economy and Self-government Committees of the Parliament of Georgia the report and action plan for 2017-2020 activities and goals and presented the detailed information on wide scale projects of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The report touches upon the most important projects - highway and road construction, water supply, tourism infrastructure, protection of the environment by means of implementation of proper waste management mechanisms. Minister emphasized that implementation of all the projects will open the potential to the regions to develop, bring welfare to the population and insure country’s rapid development. “By 2020, almost 2 500 infrastructural projects will be implemented in Georgia. It is planned to build and rehabilitate 1 000 km of roads, additionally half a million persons will benefit from 24-hour water supply. 7 new regional landfills built according to European standards will be operational, rehabilitation works will be carried out for more than 120 social and cultural infrastructural odjects. Implementation of 2,500 projects will directly create 40,000 jobs”- stated Mr. Zurab Alavidze. At the end of the speech, Minister answered the questions of the Members of the parliament.
