Asian Development Bank: We are ready to grow financial assistance to infrastructure projects

USD 700 mln allocated by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for regional development projects in Georgia - it was the topic of discussion at the meeting held at the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia. Minister, Mrs. Maya Tskitishvili and Resident Representative of ADB in Georgia, Mrs. Yesim Elhan-Kayalar reviewed ongoing and planned infrastructure projects in the region. Implementation of these projects is important for boosting tourist potential and development of small and medium size business.
“I think that we have a huge potential for multilateral cooperation. For example, projects in Zugdidi-Mestia, Telavi-Akhmeta, in Tbilisi - as a regional development center. The cooperation will promote development of both, tourism and agribusiness, as well” – Maya Tskitishvili said.
Ms. Kayalar highlighted that within the frames of close partnership with the Government of Georgia, the Bank will expand portfolio, which will encourage creation of new economic possibilities.
The assistance project covers Georgia’s integrated urban development and selection of priority directions for investments.
The Minister thanked the director of Resident Representation of ADB for cooperation and funding of the projects that will ensure economic growth of certain municipalities and the country as a whole.
On her part, Mrs. Kayalar said that the Bank is ready to continue cooperation with Georgia and increase financial assistance to effective infrastructure projects.
