Two houses with 14 apartments have been built in Gori for IDP andsocially vulnerable local families. The minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, with the minister of IDP-s from Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees of Georgia Mr. Koba Subeliani, the attorney of the president of Georgia in Shida Kartli region Mr. Zurab Arsoshvili, representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the sub-ambassador of Italy have attended the inaugurating of social houses.
The memorandum between the Ministries of Regional Development and Infrastructure,IDPs from Occupied Territories, Refugees and Accommodation; Labour, Health and Social Affairs; SDC, representing the Swiss Government; the US State Department through UNHCR; and the Italian Development Cooperation, representing the Italian Government has been conducted. According to the memorandum these 2 houses have been built in Gori.
The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia has been participated in the working process on the project. Besides it, the Ministry coordinated and provided participation of the administrations of self governments and municipalities in the project.
The social houses of Gori have been built according to the project of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)"Social Housing in Supportive Environment". This project includes construction the houses for socially vulnerable IDP and local families of Georgia in four towns in Georgia, namely Batumi, Kutaisi, Zugdidi and Gori, and in Tbilisi. The owner of the houses will be the municipalities but these families can live in these social houses as long as they are eligible to receive such assistance.
The main aim of the project is to provide maximum integration of vulnerable people into society, i.e. housing and social protection. This is achieved by establishing common areas within the social houses, e.g. common living rooms for community gatherings, communal laundries, terraces, gardens and other areas where people can communicate on a daily basis.Funding for this project, amounting to 3,793,000 GEL, has been provided by SDC, representing the Swiss Government.
Construction of the head building and the collector reservoir has been finished in Khashuri today. When the water supply rehabilitation project will be finished, citizens Khashuri will have a water supply within 24 hours per day thanking these constructions. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili has started up the water in reservoir for citizens of Khashuri himself. According to this project 2 new reservoirs (with volume 2000m3) have been built, water collector drainage system has been arranged, the pumps in pumping station have been changed. Water supply rehabilitation works are being implemented in Khashuri.Cost of the project is 1 million 800 thousands Gels and is being financed by the World Bank and Georgian government.
Red Cross Committee has passed the Ministry of regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia and United Water Supply Company, world level equipment for monitoring and controlling of water quality. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, the Director of United Water Supply Company Mr. Irakli Kvshilava and representative of Red Cross Committee Jan Bonzon have signed the relevant certificate. The equipment includes: the mobile laboratory, bore-hole camera with its accessories, 6 apparatus of JPS for testing the water and generator.Passing the equipment is the part of memorandum, which was conducted between the Ministry of regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Red Cross Committee and United Water Supply Company in the beginning of current year. The memorandum includes: 1. Technical trainings of Georgian specialists;2. Rehabilitation of water supply system in the region Shida Kartli;3. Equipment of United Water Supply Company with apparatus for testing and monitoring water quality.6 apparatus will be sent in 6 regions of Georgia. This equipment includes chemical and microbiological testing of water. The representatives of Red Cross will teach Georgian specialists, how to work with new equipment.
The Minister of regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Mr. Ramaz Nikolaishvili, The attorney of the President in Imereti Mr. Lasha Makatsaria and the Director of United Water Supply company Mr. Irakli Kvashilava have visited the rehabilitation project of water supply system at the car-factory district.The project includes to change different water pipes with different measure with the length 35 km, and rehabilitation works of water supply system. After finishing the project the people living in car-factory district can enjoy by perfect water supply system and stable graphic during 24 hours a day .The cost of the project is 2 million 206 000 Gels. More than 50 persons are employed on the project and the most of them are local citizens.
